Coppolo basses are often known for instruments in vintage specs where would go with nitro finish when they possibly can. I did have a few opportunities to try out a few LG5 Standards and this happened to be a pretty impressive one.

Sterling bass was introduced in 1993 after years of success of the Stingray. It was like the refined version of their signature product, and since EBMM revamped the Stingray line, Sterling now became their heritage line and it’s a personal favourite of mine.

Fender has been offering lower end American made instrument since the early year 2000. It started with Highway One where it’s a mixture of American and Mexican made parts that were assembled/finished in Corona factory . Later on the line was replaced American Special in around 2010, and eventually the line evolved into American Performer line in 2018. Although they’re all most likely put together by Mexican workers in the factory despite it’s in Mexico or Corona .. but having the name American on the instrument just seemed a tad more sexier ..

For most middle age music lovers, there should be at least one or 2 instrument that you happened to tried/played but did not ended up owning back in the day .. Beside the 30th Anniversary Stingray 4H I acquired last year. Here’s come another one of those special one. It was at around 2011-2012 that they had these Japanese made Ibanez in the very odd shape hanging on the wall in my local store Cosmo Music … Being a EBMM Bongo owner at that time , My tolerance for odd looking things are pretty high . I picked it up and played one .. oh man .. it was ridiculously comfortable, the bass balances perfectly .. the entire neck are easy to reach .. I had fun for a good 45mins and couldn’t put it down .. too bad that I wasn’t able to afford one at that time .. and it was gone after my next visit 2 weeks later ….

Beside the jazz or precision, the Musicman Stingray is probably the 3rd most popular electric bass out there. Design by Leo Fender and Tom Walker and test drive by Sterling Ball , the bass was introduced to the market in 1976 by Musicman, and later on the company became Ernie Ball Musicman.
