EBMM

Sterling bass was introduced in 1993 after years of success of the Stingray.  It was like the refined version of their signature product, and since EBMM revamped the Stingray line, Sterling now became their heritage line and it’s a personal favourite of mine. 

For most middle age music lovers, there should be at least one or 2 instrument that you happened to tried/played but did not ended up owning back in the day ..    This Stingray is one of those for me …. and I feel grateful to find one almost 2 decades later …. And can’t be thankful enough to say this is my all time favourite

2 years after the release of the original short scale Stingray , I'm still digging this serious little guy...    to the point I had to buy another brandnew one... 

Solid body string instruments are not rocket sciences, Stingray was first introduced in 1976, and throughout the years they’ve made their name in the music history and had their particular printed onto countless modern music.  

Throughout the years, instrument design evolves, but mostly a little at a time Often manufactures would put their 1 or 2 signature product in all kinds of variations possible and try to squeeze out as much value as they possibly can and calling them

Background:
Throughout the years, there're always a few special instrument coming from EBMM in a small run and this bass is a truely a GEM from the year 2008. 

Few years after the first appearance of the Bongo bass, Musicman released the 25th Anniversary basses in 2009 inheriting the 4 band EQ, and put a few push buttons on top plus a passive tone knob as a bonus ! It was another innovative design since the 80s’ imo after a bunch of weird stuffs .. and looked like EBMM had made a decent success with the 25 Anniversary instruments and decided to put them into production in 2010 given the name Reflex.

My last time buying a new bass from local music store was around 12 years ago, and in the past 10+ years, I’ve never decided to buy a new bass on the spot, on the first sight, unless it’s a crazy deal on something used. For a very long time, I think I’m somehow logical on making a purchase. Until this past weekend....

Another recent bass haul ..   sucker like me can just never resist on gold hardwares ..   I had to get it...

Beside the jazz or precision, the Musicman Stingray is probably the 3rd most popular electric bass out there.    Design by Leo Fender and Tom Walker and test  drive by Sterling Ball , the bass was introduced to the market in 1976 by Musicman, and later on the company  became Ernie Ball Musicman.
