2nd attempt on brush painting . This is a Premium Bandai release of Cucuruz Doan's Zaku from OVA Cucuruz Doan's Island,
Kit Info:
This kit is the revive version released in around 2022 .. most parts came from the GTO version plus all the battle damage, comes with a waterslide decal sheet with distressed logo . This kit has a taller and more stubborn looking head.
The build:
Part seperation is great .. the entire kit is easy to work with .. minimum seamlines were filled and cleaned a few mold lines ..
Finishing wise, the whole kit is primed in Gaia heavy grey primer, then colour applied in multiple thin layers, then the highlight colour goes on top, some chipping effect applied, and the entired kit was washed in dark brown and cleaned afterward .. amazing part about this Zaku is that it comes with factory battle damages. There's no way to not to weather the entire kit with a heavier touch . it's alot of fun . .
Colour used:
- light green - H50 -> XF76 (highlight)
- dark green - H62 -> some custom mix of grey/blue as highlight
- Dark grey - H55 -> some lighter purple-ish grey
- Joint - some mid grey
Thoughts:
my choice with colour has gotten a little better on this attempt. was able to go with a brigher high light then toned down with brown wash afterward .. brush painting is very relaxing and forgiving once you've got used to the brush touch .. can go back and forth with blending until an ideal result is archived .
