Another personal bass of mine. My 2nd kbp5, a Classic Supreme in Plum Crazy finish. and this will most likely be with me for the next short while .
Background:
Beside 60s and 70s jazz basses, Jimmy also builds exceptional pbass like no others. His precision basses are named after his endorsing player Kirk Power. they’re not as popular as his jazz basses, but the simplicity of a precision style bass is preferred by many. I do believe perfect pbass should only have 4 string, but there’s still quiet a bit of occassions where the access to the low B string comes in handy ….

Playability:
With a set of Thomastik Infeld nickel flat wound, this bass is well balanced and plays like butter …. Small vintage frets are easy to handle and the fretwork are top notch .
Sound:
just about what you could’ve expect from an 60s style precision bass. DN board has very distinct/sweet mid range. Not really bassy bass, but a sweet, mellow and gentle sounding p instead. Versatile tone rage and open sounding . I just wish the bass can be a tad more dirty and raw sounding . This also makes a good company with my 65’ precision.
Thoughts:
Again ... even though a perfect P has to be in 4 string. Most of my gigs still require hitting the low B string probably once a night. Quality of the B string on this one is great, tonality is very close to the others. And the other key thing about this bass is that it’s in wife’s favour colour. That tells alot already ...
