Here's my playback setup for the variety tv show I do on every monday and friday night.

my mid 2007 macbook, hooked up with apogee one usb interface and korg nano key to trigger samples from logic.
the most important part of the setup is the music stand, which blocks the camera seeing all the food and drink behind! i actually have the music on the desk most of the time.
