after being inspired by some legendary friends on Facebook, I decided to ended my weekend with some guitar wirings just like they did.

the aguilar obp-3 preamp came from my old amb-1bc which is now officially retired, and here's some photo of how the work was being done..

original cavity, CTS volume and tone pot (250K) were installed for that smooth and light turn.

not enough room to fit the battery, the preamp and all the wirings ..   more routing had to be done and also need to move the input jack to the side.

close up of the cavity.  most of the wiring on the obp-3 came from the previous install and they looked messy ..    the push/pull mid eq pot was damaged sometimes ago and it now acts more like momentary push switch (it does stay in the down position).   the fit is still a bit tight but things fit.

obp-3 is a great preamp .  the eq bands are very efficient, and surprising it doesn't alter the tone of the instrument .  it 'emphasize' them.  this classic vibe 60's precision still sounds like itself ..  when certain band is being boosted, you do still hear that weak high-mid range of the instrument.   the low and mid control are very useful .

i guess the next project will be adding the bridge pickup ..   stay tune!
