Another recent bass haul ..   sucker like me can just never resist on gold hardwares ..   I had to get it ...

This is the 2006 Limited Edition Stingray 5, without the stupid year inlay on the 12th fret and it's brillant!    Black on black with matching headstock ..  this is a classy looking beast.

Specs:

  • Ash body with maple neck and rosewood fingerboard
  • 34” scale and 17.5mm string spacing
  • Single H pickup in white housing
  • 3 way toggle switch (parallel / single coil / series)
  • 3 band boost/cut eq
  • 10 lbs
  • LE hard shell case

Took me a little time to buff the pickguard to get rid of the scratch and swirls and it's looking pretty neat!

Weight is slightly heavy but manageable, that mass in wood also guarantees the chunky stingray sound. Rosewood fingerboard has the sweeter/smoother lower mid, this bass is full of flavour. Single H pickup on the sweetspot is all you need, have the PU in parallel gets you the classic Stingray sound out of the box. There are many good Fender style instrument in the market, but noone does Stingray better than EBMM as always.
